The business was started by Arthur Carlin in 1960 as a motor auction house in the City of Melbourne. Arthur recognised the need for an automotive wholesaler to facilitate the purchase and disposal of stock for the retail motor industry.

The business has evolved over the past 40 years to become a customer focused remarketing facility specifically designed to meet the special needs of corporate and fleet customers as well as the Motor Trade.

Carlins remarketing facilities are located in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth (Agency). Vehicles are transported from South Australia and Tasmania to the stronger resale market in Melbourne.

Carlins know that quick turnaround is paramount and provide cost efficient and timely services. Carlins buy and sell vehicles as well as accept vehicles for sale on consignment. Most vehicles are sold by Trade Only tender and/or auction although the Carlins wholesale division also offers vehicles at fixed prices.
